Basic Information of 410/410s Stainless Steel Sheet/Plate

410 stainless steel is known as one of the most commonly used martensitic steels. It contains over 11.5% chromium, making it moderately resistant to corrosion. Martensite 410 can be hardened by heat treatment and has a wide range of properties. Whether annealed or hardened, 410 stainless steel retains its magnetic properties. Due to its hardenability, its weldability may be reduced accordingly. Its application is also limited by the working temperature, the strength decreases when the working temperature is high, and the ductility decreases when the working temperature is low. Grade 410 is suitable for applications requiring high strength but moderate corrosion and heat resistance.

Stainless steel is an alloy of Iron with a minimum of 10.5% Chromium. Chromium produces a thin layer of oxide on the surface of the steel known as the ‘passive layer’. This prevents any further corrosion of the surface. Increasing the amount of Chromium gives an increased resistance to corrosion.
